Celebrating the Holidays at Home with Your Preschooler
We know the holidays will be different this year, but you can still enjoy the season with your little one, safely at home. With so many ways to celebrate the season, we thought to share some of our favorites. Read below for ideas on celebrating the holidays at home with your preschooler.
Make your own handmade decorations for relatives
During this time when we have to be apart from our loved ones, you can still share something that brings everyone together. Create handmade holiday decorations with your little ones to send to relatives that are afar. You can create just about anything! Ornaments, decorated dreidels, or festive decor and garland. Making your own holiday decor as a family creates a new tradition and timeless keepsake to look back on when everyone can be together again.
Have a Holiday Movie Night
There are quite a few new holiday movies to watch along with some timeless classics. Choose something cheery, from Jingle Jangle and Godmothered on Disney+ to classics like Elf and The Muppet Christmas Carol. Wear your best holiday-themed PJ’s as a family and snuggle in for a fun movie night at home.
Visit with Santa…Virtually
While visiting Santa this year may not be possible in person, there are a number of ways for your little one to share their Christmas wish. Macy’s has brought Santaland to your home with its online, interactive, and free holiday experience. You can schedule your child’s virtual visit with Santa and enjoy fun activities along the way.
Have a Family Game Night
Board games are a great way to encourage cognitive development for your child and the holiday season is the perfect time for play. Have a family game night at home with classics you may already own.
